British lighting manufacturer and long-standing LIA member Northern Lights has announced the launch of its most extensive product collection to date, with over 70 new lighting designs developed, engineered, and handcrafted entirely in the UK at its Derbyshire facility.

This major milestone underlines Northern Lights’ ongoing commitment to British manufacturing - combining four decades of artisanal heritage with continued investment in advanced production technologies to support innovation, scalability, and sustainability in decorative lighting.

Investing in Smart Manufacturing and Traditional Skills

In the past 12 months, Northern Lights has made significant capital investments in its production facility to further enhance precision, speed, and capacity. These include:

• High-performance bandsaw, allowing for smoother cuts and more accurate profiling across complex forms
• Industrial rumbler, which complements hand polishing and expands in-house finishing capabilities
• A new-generation fibre laser cutter, which is over 4x faster and 66% more energy-efficient than its predecessor. Integrated directly with the design department via a central network, the system streamlines operations and supports rapid prototyping with minimal waste

These technologies work alongside the preservation of traditional skills which remain integral to the company’s design language and fabrication process. The synergy between skilled designers and craftspeople, combined with high-spec machinery, enables Northern Lights to deliver highly customisable lighting with competitive lead times - while maintaining full control over quality, process, and sustainability
