Sustainability brings a new language, new acronyms, and a new set of metrics. We communicate and train members at every step of their sustainability journey.
Digital LED lighting still represents the most deliverable low carbon building service in both retrofit and new build. It is a key technology in delivering government sustainability policy and achieving Net Zero targets.
Lighting sustainability is more than just energy efficiency, we need to understand and mitigate the environmental impacts through life from cradle to cradle. This brings topics such as embodied carbon, circular economy, persistent organic pollutants, critical raw materials, repairability, durability and green supply chain management.
By participating in the Scheme, lighting manufacturers can have their circularity claims independently verified. This verification process ensures the accuracy, objectivity, and consistency of the ratings provided by manufacturers for their luminaires.
Thankyou for the training course Bob. It was good to learn how the TM66 module came about and understand the overall intentions.

Thankyou for excellent delivery for today's TM66 course. I found it very beneficial.

I believe I am already putting what I have learnt on that course into action and it has re-affirmed that what I am doing is correct. Very happy with this and already applied for Module 2.

Different LIA Members are at different points on their sustainability journey and have differing levels of knowledge, these bi-directional sessions are designed to explore the complex landscape of sustainability in the lighting industry covering a wide range of topics.
Open to all member volunteers and reporting regularly to the LIA Technical Board, this Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining a sustainability plan, collecting industry-related information, recommending technical positions on sustainability, creating guidance documents, forming task forces as needed, and coordinating with other relevant groups in sustainability for the lighting industry. They report to the LIA Technical Board regularly.
As part of its widespread policy and communication outreach, The LIA activity contributes to the sustainability partnerships it has built with other industry bodies, including: LLG, BEEF, CIBSE, BEAMA, BRC, EDA, LightingEurope, and many other related collaborations.
