PHOTOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS

GONIOPHOTOMETER MEASUREMENTS

Goniophotometer Measurements

Goniophotometric testing measures light emitted from sources in all directions. Using our LMT goniophotometer and UKAS accredited systems, we can provide you with the lighting design files required for your products. We can assess light intensity and distribution which can then be used to produce your files, such as IES and LDT.

INTEGRATING SPHERE MEASUREMENTS

INTEGRATING SPHERE MEASUREMENTS

Integrating spheres measure the total light output from a source. They are coated internally with reflective material which diffuses the light uniformly, allowing precise measurement of luminous flux, colour temperature, Colour Rendiering Index (CRI) and lumens per watt, crucial for calibrating and quality controlling lighting products.

PHOTOBIOLOGICAL SAFETY: UV & BLUE LIGHT ASSESSMENT

PHOTOBIOLOGICAL SAFETY: UV & BLUE LIGHT ASSESSMENT

Photobiological testing assesses the safety of light exposure from light sources (mainly LEDs), analysing effects like UV, visible, and infrared radiation on your health including risks such as skin burns or eye damage, ensuring products comply with safety standards and protect users from harmful radiation which can cause serious long term health issues.

DARK SKIES

Photometry Testing for Dark Skies Certification
The LIA Laboratory provides photometry testing to support Dark Skies certification, helping lighting products minimise light pollution while maintaining high performance. Our testing evaluates luminous intensity, light distribution, spectral characteristics, and glare control to ensure luminaires direct light precisely where it is needed, reducing skyglow and light trespass.

We measure key photometric parameters, including beam direction and colour temperature, providing detailed data to demonstrate compliance with Dark Skies guidelines and local lighting regulations. Our accredited testing services deliver reliable reports that support environmentally responsible and energy-efficient lighting designs.

With state-of-the-art facilities and expert guidance, the LIA helps manufacturers and designers interpret results effectively, ensuring their products meet certification requirements while delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainable lighting solutions.

LIFETIME TESTING

The LIA Laboratory provides lifetime testing for luminaires and lighting products, helping manufacturers demonstrate durability, reliability, and compliance with ERP (Energy-related Products) and EcoDesign requirements. Our testing evaluates the operational lifespan of products under standard and accelerated conditions, ensuring they meet the performance and safety expectations outlined in relevant standards.

We assess energy efficiency and lumen maintenance, providing data to support regulatory compliance, product development, and market readiness. This ensures that lighting products not only perform consistently over their expected lifetime but also meet environmental and sustainability objectives.
