Scope of Accreditation

A comprehensive overview of all standards covered by our laboratory’s accredited testing services.

The LIA Laboratory has been accredited by UKAS for testing services since 2001 and we are accredited to test almost any lighting related product. An overview of our scope can be found below:

Luminaires

General Requirements & Safety Tests:

  • Electrical, mechanical, and thermal safety tests in accordance with EN IEC 60598-1:2021 + A11:2022 (excluding rough service luminaires clauses 4.13.4, 4.20, and clauses 4.34, 9.2.10 & 9.2.11).

Specialised Luminaires:

  • Fixed Luminaires: EN IEC 60598‑2‑1:2021, IEC 60598-2-1:2020
  • Recessed Luminaires: EN 60598-2-2:2012, IEC 60598-2-2:2023
  • Road & Street Lighting: EN 60598-2-3:2003 + A1:2011 (excluding clause 3.6.3.1 drag coefficient)
  • Portable Luminaires: EN 60598-2-4:2018
  • Floodlights: EN 60598-2-5:2015
  • Luminaires with Built-in Transformers: EN 60598-2-6:1995 + A1:1997
  • Portable Child-Appealing Luminaires: EN 60598-2-10:2003 (excluding clause 10.15.2)
  • Socket-Outlet Mounted Night Lights: EN 60598-2-12:2013 (excluding clauses 12.7.1, 12.7.2, 12.7.11, 12.14.1)
  • Ground Recessed Luminaires: EN 60598-2-13:2006 + A2:2016
  • Lighting Chains: EN 60598-2-20:2010 (excluding clause 20.16, sealed chains only)
  • Emergency Luminaires: EN IEC 60598-2-22:2022, EN 60598-2-22:2014 + A1:2020, IEC 60598-2-22:2014+Amd1:2017

Ingress Protection & Environmental Testing:

  • IP ratings IP1X–IP6X, IPX3–IPX8 per EN IEC 60598-1:2021 + A11:2022 (restrictions apply based on size and lamp type)
  • Thermal testing limits: Tungsten/Tungsten-halogen lamps ≤1000 W, Sodium/Mercury discharge lamps ≤400 W
  • Humidity tests restricted to luminaires ≤1200 mm in length

  • Self-Ballasted LED Lamps: EN 62560:2012+A11:2019 (excluding GZ10 & GX53 caps, torsion resistance of unused lamps)
  • Double-Capped LED Lamps: IEC 62776 Edition 1.0:2014
  • Lamp Control Gear: EN 61347-1:2015+A1:2021 (excluding section 14.7 & Annex P)
  • Ballasts for Emergency Luminaires: EN 61347-2-7:2012+A1:2019 + A2:2022
  • Miscellaneous Electronic Circuits & LED Modules: EN 61347-2-11:2001+A1:2019, EN 61347-2-13:2014+A1:2017
  • Performance Testing of LED Lamps: EN 62612:2013

  • Impact Resistance (IK Codes): EN 62262:2008+A1:2021, IEC TR 62696:2011
  • Fire Hazard Testing: Glow wire (EN 60695-2-10:2013, EN 60695-2-11:2014, EN IEC 60695-2-12:2021, EN IEC 60695-2-13:2021), Ball Pressure (EN 60695-10-2:2014), Needle Flame (EN 60695-11-5:2017)
  • Enclosures for Electrical Equipment: Ingress protection tests EN 60529:1992 + A2:2013, IP1X–IPX8 (with size restrictions)
  • Vandal/Antiligature Luminaires: Mechanical and fire resistance per STD/E/PT/059 & STD/E/PT/060 for secure environments

Photometry

  • Lamps and Luminaires: Integrating sphere and goniophotometer measurements for luminous flux, luminous efficacy, spectral total flux, chromaticity coordinates, correlated colour temperature, colour rendering index, centre beam intensity, beam angles, and luminous intensity distribution.
  • Photometric Methods & Standards:
    • IES-LM-79-08 (Clauses 9.1 & 9.3)
    • IEC/PAS 62612 (Clauses 6–10)
    • CIE 13.3:1995, CIE 84:1989, CIE 121:1996, CIE 127:2007

  • Photometric Flicker & Blue Light Hazard: LED lamps & luminaires assessed to EN IEC 60598-1:2021 + A11:2022, EN 62560:2012 + A11:2019, EN 62031:2020, IEC/TR 62778:2014, BS EN 62471:2008
