About Us

The Lighting Industry Association (The LIA) is the largest trade association in the UK dedicated to supporting the UK lighting industry and its supply chain, guided by 'The C.A.S.E. for The LIA' framework:

  • Compliance – a recognised mark of trust, quality, and high professional standards;
  • Advocacy – ensuring lighting has a strong voice in shaping policy and regulation;
  • Sustainability – embedding circular economy thinking and decarbonisation pathways across the lighting journey;
  • Education – developing the skills and talent pipeline our sector needs for the future.

These four pillars define The LIA’s purpose and represent the commitment to supporting members and the wider lighting community.

Seeing The LIA badge, you know it’s not just a logo, it’s a mark of quality, compliance, and technical excellence. Membership isn’t bought; it’s earned. Every member undergoes rigorous entry audits, random product assessments, and ongoing reviews to ensure continued compliance in an ever-evolving market. In today’s complex lighting market, selecting reliable suppliers is vital. Customers can look for LIA membership and trusted LIA certifications as a mark of excellence in lighting solutions.

History

The Lighting Industry Association (LIA) was created following the merger of the Lighting Association (LA) and The Lighting Industry Federation (LIF) in January 2012. Our combined experience in all things lighting dates back to 1905.
