General Lighting Turnover
The LIA is a founding member of LightingEurope and plays a pivotal role in its work by being active members of/or leading committees, and sitting on its Executive Board.
LightingEurope is made up of 32 direct member companies and national associations and represents 1000+ companies; 80,000 employees; and over £12bn of general lighting turnover across the wider Europe.
LightingEurope is committed to promoting efficient lighting that benefits human comfort, safety, well-being, and the environment. It advocates a positive business and regulatory environment to cultivate fair competition and growth for the European lighting industry. To ensure this happens, a large part of its role is to work with the European institutions of the Commission, Parliament, and Council.
LightingEurope acts as a unified platform, utilising the power of its wide membership to loudly and effectively advocate the value of sustainable and better lighting across the whole value chain, and with end-users.
LightingEurope hosts "Brussels Direct" webinars for its members, providing a quick and easy way to stay updated on the latest developments and trends in policy-making, the lighting industry, and other sectors. These webinars offer valuable insights to help companies strategically position themselves. As a benefit of LIA membership, members gain access to these Brussels Direct webinars.
The secretariat of LightingEurope is a small team headed by their Secretary General, Elena Scaroni. Each team member has expertise in the technical aspects of the sector and a wide range of topics within lighting that aids with the legislative and negotiating processes to get member’s voice heard at EU level.
Post Brexit, The LIA’s role in LightingEurope remains of huge importance and benefit to members by:
