Lighting Controls Technical Product Specialist - Holophane Europe

Reports to: Engineering Manager.
Location: Milton Keynes Office with some site visits when required.

A need has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic Lighting Controls specialist placed within the Product and Market Development (PMD) department of a long-established luminaires manufacturer. This role will support the engineering, product marketing and sales teams in delivering the lighting controls roadmap and providing technical expertise on all things related to lighting controls. This is a unique role in which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to become an in-house expert and the go to person for lighting controls!

The company integrates and deploys established third-party controls solutions from leading brands which meet our market & customer requirements. These range from local wireless lighting controls to a dashboard based Central Management System (CMS) deployed in the streetlighting sector. Therefore, you will be required to build relationships with partners to leverage their expertise to manage existing projects, provide solutions to sales opportunities, troubleshoot any aftersales issues and look to introduce new products as part of the product roadmap. In addition to this, you will own and manage any new and ongoing controls service plans and manage all aspects of the lighting controls product portfolio from goods-in to final installation.

This role would be suited to a someone with an electrical or electronics background who has some knowledge or experience working with lighting controls and CMS systems. We are looking for a technical minded person who is willing to take on product ownership of the lighting controls portfolio.

 

How you will contribute:

  • Being the ‘go to’ in-house specialist in all things related to lighting controls.
  • Grasp an understanding of the autonomy of our controls portfolio (systems & devices).
  • Managing the day-to-day enquiries relating to controls systems and required controls philosophies.
  • Ensuring the lighting controls are compatible with the variety of companies products and applications.
  • Devising, carrying out and reporting compatibility tests to ensure controls will function as expected.
  • Liaising with sales and customers to present solutions and defining customer requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and fault-finding to resolve any aftersales issue.
  • Compiling and maintaining standard work documentation to support the integration, installation, and assembly test instructions of control’s device/systems.
  • Production support.

Key requirements of the role:

  • A can-do diligent attitude with a willingness to learn is essential.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes and document is essential.
  • Proficient use of MS Office.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional team environments.
  • Good working knowledge of industry codes and standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and remain professional in circumstances under pressure.
  • Ability to work to tight schedules/deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ideally educated to degree level or HNC/HND with demonstrable experience in a relevant field.
