The LIA is proud to celebrate the achievements of member Lee Broom, an internationally renowned lighting and furniture designer whose work continues to redefine the boundaries of design and innovation. Among his most recognisable pieces is the Hanging Hoop chair - a striking creation in lightweight steel, valued at £5,125 - which gained global recognition after featuring in Beyoncé’s Black is King visual album. Its distinctive presence and high-profile exposure have since earned it the nickname “the Beyoncé chair.”

Broom’s flair for combining sculptural aesthetics with technical precision is evident across his portfolio and reflected in his personal surroundings. His south London residence - situated in what is believed to be the oldest surviving fire station in the capital - offers an equally bold and unconventional backdrop for his work.

As a valued member of The LIA, Broom exemplifies the creativity, craftsmanship, and international influence that define the strength of the UK lighting sector.
