Look into Lighting

New at LuxLive 2017, the Lighting Industry Academy delivered 3 hours of educational sessions aimed at helping the delegates to gain a greater understanding, whatever their involvement in lighting.

Due to the success of these sessions the LIA will be running them again in Telford on 31st January 2018 at the Lighting Industry Academy. For those attending there will also be the opportunity to visit the LIA Laboratory. This purpose built facility sits adjacent to the Academy and, as the largest independent test laboratory in Europe dedicated to lighting, provides a valuable insight into the rigorous levels that products can be tested to before being placed on the market.

The sessions provide the knowledge needed d to make better informed decisions about lighting. AND you’ll receive a certificate of attendance and inclusion on the LIA Academy’s learning record database.

Sessions will cover:

What you should consider when evaluating and comparing lighting products

  • Understanding the basic of lighting: the main metrics – colour and measurement
  • Standards and legislation
  • Product evaluation – what to look out for and what questions to ask your supplier about their products

How and where to use lighting products to get the best from them

  • What lighting design is all about
  • Colour temperature, colour rendering, flicker and glare indices
  • Controlling the light source and energy efficiency
