Supporting LuxLive with FREE education programme at the LIA Lighting Academy
LuxLive 2018 is set to bring together a record-breaking 8,000 plus key lighting industry professionals to ExCeL London on the 14th and 15th of November.
To support the organiser’s plan to provide the most extensive education programme the industry has ever seen, the Lighting Industry Association (LIA) is presenting a FREE educational programme as part of the LIA Lighting Academy inside the LIA Live Zone.
The LIA’s Commercial Manager, Julie Humphreys explains the thinking behind the LIA Lighting Academy:
“With far-reaching technological changes in lighting along with the changing expectations and working methods within the industry, the LIA has strived to establish the breadth of training and education to meet the lighting community’s need, both now and into the future. The free educational sessions at the Lighting Academy will give delegates an opportunity to get an insight on how the Academy is fulfilling the education and training requirements of a modern lighting industry.”
Sponsored by the Energy Saving Trust’s Premium Light Pro project, the morning sessions of the seminar programme provide a unique opportunity to understand how to get the most from energy-efficient lighting. The delegates will learn the considerations to implement best practice in design, product selection and control strategy, whilst also achieving the significant potential for carbon and cost savings.
The morning session on Wednesday, 14th November will be dedicated to planning and implementing a successful interior lighting upgrade. Whether working towards ESOS or CRC compliance or just looking to lower operating costs in general, switching to more efficient indoor lighting is a great way to contribute to this.
The following day’s morning session on Thursday, 15th of November will be an opportunity for the delegates to learn how to get the most of lighting the exterior environment. Lighting for roads, streets and other outdoor spaces is an important consideration for councils and local authorities. The session will explore balancing the needs of pedestrians, motorists, households and businesses, as well as budgets.
The afternoon sessions at the LIA Lighting Academy will be dedicated to showing the industry what is needed to be done to ensure products are compliant. It will highlight the importance of a fully competent lighting community ready to make the best use of the latest technological developments.
The quality of some products has become a hot and sometimes divisive topic, with the industry asking for more support and direction when it comes to compliance and competence within the marketplace. To illustrate this, the results from the LIA’s industry-wide Market Surveillance scheme will be presented, featuring its key findings and exploring the considerations required to ensure compliant products are sold in the UK.
Each day’s educational sessions conclude with an open debate on compliance and competence. The panel, consisting of the LIA’s Peter Hunt and Andy Guest will be joined by consultants and LIA tutors Iain Macrae and Bob Bohannon who, along with Energy Saving Trust’s Stuart Muir, will guide you through the hot topics discussed during the afternoon sessions.
The LIA Lighting Academy is sponsored by Tamlite Lighting and Holophane and is FREE to all attending LuxLive. No booking is required in advance, allowing attendees to manage their time and cherry-pick the sessions they want. All training is CPD certified.
