We are delighted to announce a major revision to the national student lighting design awards which have been running now for over 30 years.
‘Delight in Light’ is a new movement we have created to encourage excellence in lighting design. This is a mutually beneficial situation for all.
Firstly for the lighting industry which strives for excellence and the high quality design can provide.
Secondly the designers through a closer liaison with the industry and exposure at high profile events and of course thirdly the end users that will enjoy a better quality of lighting in their environment.
The new look awards, complete with a dedicated website, will embrace changes in the way students and business communicate with social media taking a central role.
The design brief has been re-worked to encourage the best from design students across the UK and the entries will be uploaded to the website for public viewing ahead of a final in Dragon's Den style to be held during the prestigious London Design Week in September.
A panel of judges chosen from the lighting industry and design world will take part in a punchy final which will be open to the public.

The changes we have made to the Delight in Light Design competition also reflects the way we communicate.
To summarise them:
- Entries will be uploaded to the website.
- Entries can be viewed online and the public can vote to create a shortlist.
- Judging of the finalists will take place at a prestigious event during London Design Week 2013 with high profile judges from the design world and the lighting industry.
- Delight in Light is on Facebook and Twitter and we encourage use of these resources by the designers and industry to generate a forum and liaison.
- Deadlines are much later than previous years allowing a more flexible approach for individual and block entries. Deadline is midnight on the 1 August 2013
